For years I have been caring for parts of myself that were injured in traumatic life experiences. These experiences are part of life for everyone, and they can weigh us down if we get stuck around them. Often they live in me as parts that I fear or are angry about or make me feel sad or devastated. They come with disturbing memories that show up regularly. For many years I practiced acceptance and this was very helpful. When I figured out what kind of support I wished I had gotten in each situation, and wrote or drew about that, the healing was deeper, and those parts seemed to integrate into a more whole and free person—me!
In this workshop, you will choose a memory or experience you would like to have more freedom around. We will start with something relatively simple and those who choose may do a second experience that is more difficult (if you have the capacity to be with that.) We will imagine what might have helped you to survive that experience with more ease and support. Questions we will explore together include:
What exactly happened that you have recurring, uncomfortable memories of?
What support do you wish you had had at that time?
What exactly might that have looked and felt like?
Can you consider every detail possible as you draw and write about that experience? NO drawing experience or talent is required at all!
There is a special alchemy that happens when we do this exploration together—a sense of safety and the feeling that we are not alone with our human condition. If you are feeling nervous but also excited about this idea, then this workshop may be for you.
People attending this workshop should have normal levels of psychological health.
This workshop is open to in-person registration and live online registration. You must attend live at the time of the workshop. There will be no recording for this one.
