Rest and Resilience: An iRest Meditation Series

Rest and Resilience: An iRest Meditation Series

  • Radiant Yoga + Wellness (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

As summer eases into September, life can still feel turbulent. Maybe it’s personal challenges that won’t let go, the slow creep of burnout, the shortening days and earlier sunsets, or the collective uncertainty and grief of these complex times. Whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to carry it alone.

Resilience isn’t about pushing harder or pretending you’re fine. It’s the art of resting well, of steadying yourself, of remembering the strength and ease that already live within you. It’s the quiet work of coming home to yourself over and over again.

iRest Yoga Nidra offers a path back. Rooted in ancient teachings and affirmed by modern research, this guided meditation invites deep rest and a return to your inner calm. It’s a practice of finding the sanctuary that’s always inside you, even when the world feels chaotic.

Over four weeks, we’ll explore how iRest can help you:

  • Create a personal refuge you can return to whenever life feels too much

  • Reconnect with what truly matters, your values, your intentions, your steady ground

  • Cultivate deep rest so your body and mind can restore and renew

  • Meet your thoughts and emotions with curiosity, seeing them as guides instead of battles

Each week includes guided meditations, space for reflection, and supportive discussion.

You’ll also receive:

  • Recordings to support your home practice

  • A workbook to help you make the practice your own

  • Opportunity to explore meditation in community

I’ve been practicing iRest for eight years. At times, it has been a life preserver that helped me keep my head above water, and at other times, it has been a deep spiritual practice that reminded me of my inherent worth and my interconnection with all of life. It has taught me to soften toward myself, even in hard seasons, and given me the confidence to meet challenging thoughts, emotions, situations, and people with clarity. My hope is that this series offers you the same.

This isn’t about fixing anything. You’re not broken. It’s about remembering the resilience and wholeness that have always been there. Come as you are. Whether you’re seeking rest, clarity, or a deeper connection with yourself, iRest can meet you where you are.

Autumnal Equinox Energy Ritual

Autumnal Equinox Energy Ritual

The rhythm of the seasons can, at times, seem to change gradually, and then all at once. When we take time to recognize, be with, and celebrate the change of season and its rhythms we may more easily acclimate to the next rhythm. Many experience the Autumn rhythm as faster paced and more focused as families and individuals re-enter more defined schedules as regular activities commence after summer and preparation for Winter begins, As days grow shorter, we navigate the earth’s pull to slow and rest while soaking up the sun’s rays to store as days grow shorter and nights grow longer. Perhaps as we are actively enjoying the vibrant colors and activities of our fall days and nights, we long to lean into a different pace invited by the seasonal change. Or perhaps the chill in the air and the excitement of fall activities brings awe and wonder. Whatever Autumn is for you, Christy and Stephanie invite you to join them to learn more deeply about energies and elements of Autumn and explore your joy in the season and what supports you

This offering includes:

  • Guided Yoga Nidra Meditation

  • Hands on (or off) Reiki

  • Contemplation Practice

  • Journaling

  • Custom Essential Oil Blend

  • Gift of the season

Gravity, Vision, Hearing and the Nervous System
Sep
28
1:00 PM13:00

Gravity, Vision, Hearing and the Nervous System

We have many senses beyond the 5 we have learned since childhood, and the ability to feel our relationship with the center of the earth, the felt sense of gravity, is one of them. And, when we can feel this support with an easy openness of sight and hearing, there is an experience of being held. This is very different from holding ourselves up, something that requires more tension in our bodies (bracing) and more activation in our nervous system than is necessary or helpful. When grounded in this totally natural, though often unfamiliar way, there is a sense of security and inter-relatedness in our bodies, our bones, our whole nervous system and everything around us.

Experiencing an openness of sight and hearing is not always easy for us raised inside buildings and in Western culture. We may not even realize that at some point we heard or saw something disturbing enough that we partially shut down our hearing or sight. That was likely in service to us at the time, but is it still present or necessary? Can we find the appropriate sensory responses, including relaxation, in our eyes and ears? Do we know the difference? How is our seeing when we are cozy and secure versus when we are afraid? How is listening different, how are we different, when listening to natural sounds outside versus mechanical sounds (almost every sound inside buildings.)

In this workshop we’ll experiment with a variety of embodied practices to explore these and other questions. As always, this is a come-as-you-are party. Bring your curiosity, your challenges, your strengths (are they really strengths or just bracing?)  Perhaps we’ll find out….

In person and livestream with recording available after class.

Bonus!  The first 10 people to sign up for this workshop will receive a free copy of Restorative Practices by Gabriel Kram! I am not able to mail these out so if you are signing up online you will have to be able to pick it up at Radiant (within a week) or my house (whenever.)

Restorative + Thai Yoga Massage Experience

Join us for this one of a kind melty mash-up class where our teachers will combine passive Restorative Yoga postures, Guided Meditation and Thai Yoga Massage to create the ultimate relaxation experience.

In this session participants will be guided into restorative postures by Liz while Stella and Amy move around the room giving special hands on attention to each person, working on areas of the body that hold the most tension.

The practice of Thai Yoga Massage is a hands on stretching release of muscles and fascia, marma point (acupressure, trigger point release), and sen line (energy line) work that unwinds tight muscles and opens energy pathways to restore health and wellbeing to both the physical body and energetic bodies. It is a practice where both giver and receiver benefit from metta or loving kindness.

Restorative Yoga is like a grown up pillow fort of comfort where we use pillows and blankets to support the body so it can relax completely.

  • How to create a safe(r) practice space

  • Reading the energy in the room

Linda's Favorite Practices: Cranio Cradle Release

Through the decades I’ve been concentrating on teaching pranayama, exercises for healthy everyday breathing, and meditation in various forms, particularly in courses for yoga teachers and advanced students. So, I haven’t taught all the practices I do for myself or talked about the ongoing research and reading I do. Now I’d like to hold a series of workshops on a variety of topics that cover the practices near and dear to me that don’t fit into any curriculum. In this first workshop, we’ll use the cranial cradle to release tension in the body. I can’t imagine a week without this self-massage tool. If possible, buy two but one will work just fine. They are expensive, but less than a single session with a great massage therapist, and you’ll use them over and over again. If you have any questions about these tools, contact me at linda@phillipsoshins.com.

What Is a Healthy Breath: and How to Take One

What Is a Healthy Breath: and How to Take One

This workshop is for those who feel like they can’t take a full breath, whether that’s due to emotional or physical tension, illness, injury to the breath muscles, or any number of situations that set up dysfunction breathing patterns, slight or severe. It covers the anatomy of the breath muscles, exercises so that we can feel how those muscles work in ourselves and how it feels to use those breathing muscles correctly. We can’t correct a pattern we don’t understand, and we can’t understand a pattern that we can’t feel. This workshop will also be useful to yoga teachers who want to clarify what they are aiming for in teaching breathing to their students. What is a healthy breath? How do you recognize it? How do you work toward it?

And all participants will feel both relaxed and enlivened by the end of the workshop!

(Note: in three hours we begin a look at health breathing; in this time, it is not possible to correct severe problems which would require continuing guidance and practice over time. But this should illuminate healthy breathing for everyone.)

Linda Oshins has been teaching workshops on healthy breathing and on pranayama, the yoga breathing techniques, for over 25 years. Please reach out if you have questions before enrolling Linda@PhillipsOshins.com.

Date & Time

May 4 from 1:30 to 4:30 Eastern Time/10:30 to 1:30 Pacific Time

This is online over Zoom only; the session is recorded and will be distributed to students after class.

Cost

We understand this is a time of financial uncertainty for many. Linda has so graciously offered her time for this event to make it accessible for students to continue to learn and engage in community no matter the circumstances. Energy Cleansing & Filling

These days, our world is filled with conflicts and people who are in great need. Whether you are sensitive to the cries (or crises) of the world, are a healer or helper who brings home the unhealed energy of your clients, or need a way to shift your energy after reading the news, this workshop has something for you.

You’ll learn your style of dealing with the energy of others in the world—are you a composter, a backpacker, an open window, Velcro, a river, or a protector?  Understanding this will help you decide which practices are the best for you, including simple and powerful techniques that help you cleanse and clear your energy field when you feel cluttered or overwhelmed by the world. After you are cleared, you’ll practice techniques that help fill you up, glow you up, so you are shiny and strong. When we are radiant with Lifeforce it is harder for the world’s challenges to penetrate us. We can still be compassionate and loving, but we don’t need to carry anything that is not ours.

Practices taught come from a variety of sources including Yoga and Meditation, Reiki and Qi Gong.

Thai Yoga Massage Partner Workshop
Feb
15
2:00 PM14:00

Thai Yoga Massage Partner Workshop

Spend a Saturday afternoon with your friend, partner or family member feeling relaxed and blissed out! Thai Yoga (or Nuad Boran) is a mix of yoga postures and gentle stretching with palming & thumbing techniques applied to energy lines and pressure points. It can help to relieve stress, muscular tension, and restore an energetic balance in the body.

In this workshop, Stella will guide you through a gentle and soothing sequence of assisted yoga stretches and compression poses. Using hands, elbows, knees and feet, you will work with a partner in both giving and receiving a Thai Yoga Massage.

The purpose of this workshop is for relaxation and it is not a training. Please wear loose clothing that you can move in (e.g., yoga clothes or lounge wear) and make sure you wear long pants because that will feel more comfortable during the massage.

Reiki Reconnection
Jan

Reiki Reconnection

On the doorstep of another presidential inauguration day, join together with others in a large Reiki share, giving energy to one another and to all those who are particularly vulnerable and need support. Please set aside this time on your calendar—January 19 at 1:00 Eastern Time, 10:00 Pacific Time. This gathering is intended to emphasize the source of hope, compassion, gift giving and strength within ourselves, clearing the way for us to do our work in the world as we see it.

This event is for everyone, whether you are already attuned to Reiki or not. Each participant will receive one heart attunement during this program which will last no more than an hour.

Thanks to Aimee at Radiant Yoga and Wellness for helping us to do registration again. If you would like to make a donation in honor of this event you can make a donation to a non-profit that supports people in need these days. If you would like a suggestion Radiant and Marcia are supporting Motherful this year. They do an amazing job offering support to single mothers. And you can always give to the Karma Yoga Foundation, run by Marcia and Michele Vinbury. Our main programs lately have been to give scholarships to people of color and/or low income so they can take the power of yoga into communities that otherwise might not have it.

This one-hour Zoom session is Sunday, January 19

  • 1:00p ET

  • Noon CT

  • 11:00 MT

  • 10:00 PT

Marcia Miller, Linda Oshins, and Luann Jacob
